Chef – Full Time

Kitchen Porter

We’re looking for a reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to join our busy catering team at Pensthorpe.

This is a vital role within our kitchen, helping to ensure we maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, organisation and food safety while supporting our chefs to deliver an excellent experience for our visitors.

Whether you already have experience working in a commercial kitchen or you’re looking for your first role in hospitality, we’d love to hear from you.

Gardening – Volunteer

This is a volunteer role and under the guidance of the Gardening Team, you will be involved in:

  1. Pruning shrubs and climbers, hedge trimming and cutting back herbaceous plants
  2. Weeding of flower beds and irrigation as required by season
  3. Planting new areas within the gardens including bulb planting
  4. Plant identification
  5. Heavier digging tasks (optional)

You may also be involved in greeting visitors, answering questions they may have and assisting with presentations and walks and talks.

Visitor Engagement – Events, Activities & Schools volunteer

This is a volunteer role, so under the guidance of the Education / Reserve Team, you will be involved in:

  1. Welcoming visitors and helping them to get the best from their day out at Pensthorpe
  2. Respond to visitor questions and proactively engage with visitors to explain what we do and what they can see (including other talks, events & activities going on)
  3. Helping to prepare and run seasonal events and activities such as bug hunting, nature themed games and natural history table.
  4. Supporting the Education Team with school / uniform groups; helping with setting up materials as well as leading activities and walks.

Visitor Engagement – Guide in the Hide Volunteer

This is a volunteer role, so under the guidance of the Reserve Team, you will be involved in:

  1. Welcoming visitors and helping them to get the best from their day out at Pensthorpe
  2. Respond to visitor questions and proactively engage with visitors to explain what we do and what they can see (including other talks, events & activities going on)
  3. Using optics (binoculars & telescopes) to pinpoint species of interest
  4. Supporting activities and events, including walks and talks & school groups where necessary.
  5. Helping us maintain the site (basic housekeeping – cleaning signs, removing litter, tidying chairs etc.)
