Aha! Alan Partridge shares his garden with the people of Norfolk.

Norfolk favourite Alan Partridge has added another jewel to his crown, by creating a garden for the RHS Hampton Court Palace, which will then be relocated to Pensthorpe.

Alan Partridge, played by Steve Coogan, designed The Alan Partridge Sound Bath Garden in collaboration with Norfolk-based design company Carey Garden Design Studio. The design showcases the very best of Alan and will be a joy for fans as “a sound garden for the people of Norfolk”.

The RHS Hampton Court Palace Festival runs from 1-6 July, with Pensthorpe being chosen as its forever home. The garden will be moved over the summer and opened to the public by the end of October 2025.

Pensthorpe was the natural choice for Alan Partridge, who recently shared: “As someone not poor enough to have ever lived in a flat, gardens have been a feature of my domestic life for decades.” With five renowned gardens already on the 700-acre reserve, this latest addition helps to share outside space with the people of Norfolk and beyond. The team at the nature reserve on the outskirts of Fakenham will make some tweaks to the garden in order to fully immerse it in its new home, with gentle nature based tones, bird calls, and immersive sound bathing.

Ben Marshall, Managing Director of Pensthorpe said: “At Pensthorpe, we are excited to be receiving the plants, trees and sculptural elements of the Alan Partridge Sound Bath Garden after its appearance at RHS Hampton Court Flower Show.

Alan has gifted the components of his garden to the people of Norfolk and it will be reconfigured in its ‘forever home’ as a sculptural nature sound bath for families to enjoy for many many years to come.”

Joe and Laura of Carey Garden Design Studio added: ” Designing for Alan has been a completely unique experience, in fact the whole project from the very beginning has been a wonderful mixture of the totally bizarre, laugh-out-loud funny and in the realms of the ridiculous.

It’s been a true venture in both creativity and realising a brief – we’re pretty confident it’s never been done before (not like this anyway!)”

Nods to the Norfolk legends roots are include throughout the space, including the use of plants Alan Partridge enjoys on his rambles in the countryside such as Verbascum pulverulentum (hoary mullein).

Alongside the Alan Partridge garden, visitors can also choose to take part in the Sculpture Trail, the much loved family fun Poo Trail, loose themselves in the Migration Maze or spend time in the indoor and outdoor play facilities.

Enjoying the garden is included in day ticket entry to the reserve, with prices for adults starting at £16.50. Admission is included for current members.
